Singapore's experience in implementing school-based management and the possibility of benefiting from it in the Arab Republic of Egypt

Abstract

Singapore occupies an advanced position among the countries of the world, as it represents an economic, political and global power to be reckoned with, as it is characterized by having an educational system that is the latest leap between educational systems in the world, and despite all this, the educational system in Singapore faced a set of educational challenges, as it was suffering centralization in its educational system, which necessitated making clear changes in the existing educational system by restructuring its institutions and adopting more flexible administrative methods represented in implementing school-based management  approach.
The present study aimed to analyze Singapore’s experience in the field of implementing school-based management, and determine the possibility of benefiting from it in the Arab Republic of Egypt. For that purpose, this study used the comparative methodology by describing the educational phenomena, and interpreting and analyzing the culture background and social context, in order to predict the success or failure of adopting this phenomena in the Egyptian context, Then the study consisted of four sections in addition to the part related to defining the study problem, its questions and its approach, where the first section included a presentation of the nature of school-based management in contemporary administrative literature, while the second section included presenting the features of school-based management in Singapore by addressing its foundations, objectives and dimensions, while the third section included the analyzing of school-based management approach in Singapore in the light of economic, political and social factors, the fourth section included a presentation of ways to benefit from Singapore's experience in the field of school-based management and how to benefit from it in the implementation of school-based management in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
