Abstract

This research investigatedThe Effectiveness of Teaching a Proposed Unit in Social Studies for 6th Grade pupils Based on the Current Events Approach in Developing the Awareness of the Intellectual Safety Dimensions. It was conducted on 40 participants of grade six from Abu Flio primary school. The research used an experimental method with one group, they were taught and assessed by the research herself. She conducted aconceptual test for assessing the participants` awareness of the intellectual safety concepts and a situational scale for assessing the participants` awareness of the intellectual safety dimensions pre and post the implementation. The collected scores of both the pre / post- test and scale were processed and analyzed via SPSS program. The given results proved that there are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the average of the participants` scores in the pre / post conceptual test = 2.02 and there are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the average of the participants` scores in the pre / post situational scale = 2.02.Based on the previous results, the research has proven the effectiveness of the current events approach in teaching social studies topics and in developing the awareness of the dimensions of intellectual safety among sixth grade pupils.
