The role of educational institutions in developing awareness of the dimensions of digital citizenship in Egyptian Society

Abstract

The objective of this research is to define the concept of digital citizenship and its dimensions (moral dimensions, technological information knowledge, Social dimensions, Practice and participation dimensions). The role of some educational institutions in shaping awareness of these dimensions. The importance of this research comes from the role played by educational institutions in raising responsible citizens aware of the dimensions of the responsibility. In developing awareness of the dimensions of digital citizenship in line with technological developments in the world in general and in Egypt in particular, and the research used the descriptive curriculum through which the role of some educational institutions in shaping this awareness is monitored, the collection, compilation and analysis of information, and accordingly the research is able to present a set of recommendations and proposals, including: Promote a culture of awareness of the dimensions of digital citizenship among members of society, incorporate the dimensions of digital citizenship into the School curriculum, and recommend opening digital channels of communication between these institutions in support of their role in developing the concept and dimensions of digital citizenship.
