Abstract

The aim of the current research is to introduce a suggested program in nutritional extracts based on the competency-based methodology for developing scientific concepts and practical skills of agricultural secondary school students. To achieve this, a suggested program in nutritional extracts was designed, including a teacher's guide and a student’s activity book formulated according to the competency-based methodology. The research instruments consisted of a scientific concepts test and a nutritional extracts observation card. The research used the quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design to measure the research variables. The research materials and instruments were implemented on a group of 35 first-year agricultural secondary school students at Abu Qurqas Agricultural Secondary School in Minia Governorate during the second semester of the academic year 2022/2023. The results showed the effectiveness of the suggested program in nutritional extracts based on the competency-based methodology for developing scientific concepts and practical skills of agricultural secondary school students. The research recommended directing the attention of those responsible for developing agricultural education curricula to include nutritional extracts in a technical program for food manufacturing and to focus on training teachers to enhance their performance, skills, and teaching attitudes in accordance with the Competency-based methodology.
