Proposed strategies to activate the university’s role in developing awareness of environmental policy using the TOWS matrix

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the intellectual and conceptual framework of environmental policy, discuss the sociological visions that contributed to the interpretation of environmental policy, reveal some of the factors and trends affecting the decision-making process in environmental policy, and monitor and analyze the environmental reality of the role of Minya University in developing awareness of environmental policy using SWOT analysis. (SWOT Analysis), and an attempt to come up with proposed strategies to activate the role of Minya University in developing awareness of environmental policy using the (TOWS) matrix in light of the outcomes of the (SWOT) analysis.



The research concluded by proposing and formulating a set of strategies to activate the role of Minya University in developing awareness of environmental policy, which were: strategies of attack and growth, strategies of competition and reinforcement, strategies of treatment, and strategies of defense or contraction and withdrawal. The research also reached a set of results, the most important of which are: weak awareness of the concept of environmental policy at the institutional level, as well as the absence of institutionalization in implementing environmental policy, and the limitation of tools for implementing environmental policy to educational and cultural tools only, represented in seminars and workshops, and the scarcity of applying direct legislative and regulatory tools and economics.
