A program based on digital stories to develop literary criticism skills among fourth-year students in the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Education

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the proposed program based on digital stories in developing literary criticism skills among students in the fourth year of the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Education. The study sample was 50 students both male and female students, who were divided into two groups, a control group and an experimental group, with 25 male and female students for each group. The study and its educational materials include a list of literary criticism skills, a test of literary criticism skills for students in the fourth year of the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Education, a program based on digital stories, a teacher’s guide, and student worksheets. The descriptive-analytical method and the experimental method based on semi-experimental design were used.

The study concluded the effectiveness of the suggested program in developing literary criticism skills among students of the fourth year of the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Education. Where the students of the experimental group excelled over the students of the control group in the post-test of the skills of literary criticism as a whole, as well as the students of the experimental group excelled over the students of the control group in each of the six skills to test the skills of literary criticism, represented in (linguistic dimension skills, intellectual dimension skills, aesthetic dimension skills, discrimination skills, and skills of Budgeting and evaluation skills).
