Contribution of some variables to predict Suicidal Ideation among a sample of students (a comparative psychological study)

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the extent to which some variables contribute to predicting suicidal ideation among a sample of adolescents and students and identify the direct and indirect effects between perceived social support (mediator variable) family climate (independent variable) and suicidal ideation (dependent variable) among adolescents, as well as identifying the existence of differences due to differences in the variables of gender (males/ females) and educational stage (secondary /university), and the interaction between them in the degree on the perceived social support scale and its dimensions, the family climate scale and its dimensions, and suicidal ideation among Students ,The study was conducted on a sample of (400) male and females adolescent students whose ages ranged between (15-22 years), ,So this study Depended on the perceived social support scale prepared by Zimet et al., (1988) was applied to them, Arabized by researcher, the family climate scale prepared by Bjornberg & Nicholson (2007), translated and Arabized by researcher, and suicidal ideation scale prepared by Renberg & Jacobsson (2003), Arabized by researcher, The results showed the presence of statistically significant negative direct effects, between perceived social support, family climate, and suicidal ideation among adolescents, and there is no negative indirect effects between the total degree of suicidal ideation, and there are no statistically significant differences according to gender and educational stage in the family climate scale ,
