Abstract

The research aims to determine the role of university museums in sustainable education within Egyptian universities, drawing upon the experience of Yarmouk University Museum. It also seeks to identify the theoretical foundations of university museums and their role in development and sustainable education in contemporary global contexts. Furthermore, it aims to develop proposed procedures to enhance the role of Egyptian university museums in development and sustainable education, based on the insights gained from Yarmouk University Museum in Jordan. To achieve these objectives, the research employs a descriptive methodology. It presents several recommendations to assist university museums in fulfilling their role in providing sustainable education, informed by the experience of Yarmouk University Museum. These recommendations include: the necessity of developing and enhancing the organizational structure of Egyptian university museums, selecting qualified academic leaders with expertise in the nature of museums and management processes (planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluation), increasing financial and material allocations and resources to university museums to ensure they can conduct activities related to sustainable education, offering university programs to train technical staff for their own needs and those of other institutions, conducting research and studies based on understanding the requirements and needs of the museum's audience and meeting the diverse needs of the academic and surrounding community, and conducting further studies on the relationship between museums and sustainable development within universities.
