The Effectiveness of Project-based Science Teaching Program in Developing Scientific Concepts for Primary School Students

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a proposed project-based science teaching program in developing scientific concepts for primary education students and to achieve the study's objectives.

The study tools consisted of preparing: a teacher’s guide for a proposed unit entitled Microorganisms and their causes of diseases, learner worksheets for a proposed unit entitled Microorganisms and their diseases, a test of developing scientific concepts for the proposed unit under study, and the current study used the quasi-experimental one-group approach In the tribal and remote measurement of the variables of the study, the study sample consisted of a group of male and female students of the sixth grade of primary education in the Matai Educational Administration in Minya Governorate. The study found the effectiveness of the proposed project-based program in developing scientific concepts among students of primary education. The study recommended using the proposed program based on Projects in science teaching because of their effectiveness in developing scientific concepts, training teachers before and during servies the use of the project-based learning strategy.
