Abstract

The study in its major objective is an attempt to identify the effectiveness of using differentiated teaching in science to develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts for fifth grade students. Teaching and learning materials consisted of books for the student in the classroom, the teacher's guide for teaching “Energy" unit is formulated according to differentiated teaching. The measurement tool is represented in: To test the deep understanding of scientific concepts in the “energy” unit for levels (explanation - interpretation - application - comparison). The research group was chosen from among the pupils of the fifth grade of primary school at Edmo Elementary School in the administration of Minya, Asample of (70) students, the "energy" unit was taught using differentiated teaching, The study has revealed that effectiveness of using differentiated teaching in science for developing the deep understanding For scientific concepts among students in the fifth grade primary.The research also recommends the use of differentiated teaching in teaching science at the primary stage and all stages of public education, and the necessity of holding training courses for service science teachers on strategies and methods based on developing deep understanding, and the need to hold training courses for student teachers at the College of Education on strategies and methods of teaching based on the development of deep understanding.
