The impact of social media on shaping religious concepts among university youth in the United Arab Emirates

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the impact of social media on shaping religious concepts among university youth in the United Arab Emirates. The study sample consisted of (1152) university youth, with (331) male and (821) female students. The researcher prepared a questionnaire about the impact of social media on shaping religious concepts, and the results of the study revealed that university students use social media daily for more than two hours at a rate of (83.2%), and (74.9%) of them access social media more than five times a day, and there is a significant correlation Statistically at the level of (0.01) between the variables of social media fields (the field of Islamic belief, the social field, the economic field, the political field, the field of tolerance issues) and the formation of religious concepts, and it was found that 34% of the change in the formation of religious concepts is due to the influence of these variables independent (the domain of Islamic belief and the political domain), and the remaining 66% is due to other factors affecting the dependent variable on the formation of religious concepts.
