Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the relationship between family support and learned helplessness among a sample of students from the Faculty of Education, Minia University, and to identify the contribution of family support in predicting learned helplessness, and to identify the differences in learned helplessness that are attributed to the variable of specialization (scientific / literary). The family support scale (prepared by the researcher) and the learner helplessness scale (prepared by: Asmaa Mohamed Abdel Hamid, 2019) were applied to a sample of (575) first year students at the Faculty of Education, Minia University for the academic year 2021/2022. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to detect On the bilateral relationship between family support and learned helplessness in the research sample, regression analysis was used to reveal the ability of family support to predict learned helplessness, and a t-test for two independent samples to identify the differences between the average degrees of scientific and literary specialization. High in family support, and they also showed a high level of learned helplessness, as the results of the statistical analysis showed that there is an inverse correlation between family support and learned helplessness (r = -0.35), and family support also contributes a percentage of The predictor of the learned helplessness in the research sample, and the results revealed that there are no statistically significant differences between the mean degrees of scientific and literary specialization in the learned helplessness at the level of significance (0.05).
