The Relative Contribution of Psychological Happiness and Tolerance in Predicting Marital Adjustment Among a Sample of Married Male and Female Teachers

Abstract

The current study aimed to determine the extent to which psychological happiness and tolerance contribute to predicting marital adjustment among a sample of married male and female teachers. The study sample consisted of (150) male and female teachers, including (70) male teachers and (80) female teachers, and the psychological happiness scale was applied to them: Prepared by Springer & Hauser 2006, translated by: Mr. Muhammad Abu Hashem (2010), the Tolerance Scale (Arabized by Bushra Ahmed Ismail), and the Marital Compatibility Scale prepared by: Iman Mahmoud Obaid (2014). The results showed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the degrees of psychological happiness. And marital adjustment among married male and female teachers. There is a statistically significant positive correlation between the degrees of tolerance and marital adjustment among married male and female teachers. There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of married male and female teachers according to the gender variable (males/females) on the psychological happiness scale in favor of females. There are differences There is a statistically significant difference between the average scores of married male and female teachers according to the gender variable (males/females) on the tolerance scale in favor of females, and there are no statistically significant differences between the average scores of married male and female teachers according to the gender variable (males/females) on the marital adjustment scale, and tolerance contributes to significantly in predicting marital adjustment.
