A proposed conception to develop the research performance of universities in Egypt in the light of the international rankings of universities.

Abstract

World university rankings have become one of the means of evaluating university education, with the beginning of the twenty-first century, and many Arab countries are hopeful that their universities will reach the level of international universities. Developing countries are also following the results of the classification, and some have tended to allocate a large budget for university education, waiting for this spending to be reflected at the level of their universities. The university is considered the mainstay of higher education. It contributes to building the human being cognitively, culturally, morally and skillfully. It develops human resources to support development plans. It is also the focus of developing scientific research. It also seeks, through its competitive policy, to achieve the requirements that enable it to compete in the international rankings of universities



.It was found through the research that there are many obstacles related to the university student and the faculty member as the basis of the education process, scientific research and the lack of spending on it, which was reflected on the quality of research and its results and the extent of its validity for application, and neglecting the dissemination of knowledge and the exchange of experiences, which led to the need to develop proposals to overcome these obstacles and improve Research and educational performance, including improving the performance of the university as a whole to advance its position in the international rankings of universities.
