The Effectiveness of Using the (4MAT) Model to Teach Mathematics Developing Second-Year Preparatory Female Students’ Algebraic Thinking Skills

Abstract

The research aims to identify the effectiveness of using the (4MAT) model to teach mathematics developing second-year preparatory female students’ algebraic thinking skills. To achieve this goal, the teacher's guide and worksheets for the students were prepared, which were used during teaching the units of analysis and non-negative and negative integer powers. The research was carried out in the Mathematics subject in the second term for second-year preparatory students using the (4MAT) model, an algebraic thinking test, The researcher used the quasi-experimental research design with two groups: a control group that studied the two units using the regular method and the other experimental one that studied the same two units using the 4MAT model. The experiment was conducted at the Jamal Ismail Abu Hassanin Girls Institute, Abu Qarqas Education Department for the academic year 2022/2023 . The results revealed the effectiveness of using the 4MAT model to teach mathematics in the development of second-year preparatory female students’ algebraic thinking skills
