Developing Biology Syllabus of Secondary School Stage in the Light of Health Education Criteria

This research aimed to develop the biology syllabus in the secondary stage in light of health education criteria. To achieve this, a list of standards for health education was prepared based on reviewing the quality document for science teaching standards, scientific references for health education, and standards in previous research and studies. The list included six areas of health education:. Personal health, nutritional health, environmental health, mental, psychological, social and sexual health, safety and preventive health, first aid, diseases, medicines and treatment. The biology curriculum in the secondary stage was analyzed in light of this list, and the results showed that the biology curriculum was deficient in more than (80%) of the concepts included in this list, and then the researcher developed a curriculum map for the extent and sequence to include these areas of health education standards for the biology curriculum for the secondary stage. . The opinions of the arbitrators were surveyed on the suitability of developing the biology curriculum in light of the health education standards in the secondary stage, who acknowledged its suitability for development. The research then recommends taking into consideration the inclusion of the proposed health education standards in the next development of the biology curricula in the secondary.
