Structural model of the relationships among attitude towards the profession of a kindergarten teacher, psychological identity, and mental motivation of female student teachers at the Faculty of Childhood Education, Minia University
The current research aims to detect the relationships among the attitude towards the profession of a kindergarten teacher and each of the psychological identity and mental motivation of student teachers at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Minia University, and to detect the impact of psychological identity and mental motivation in the attitude towards the profession of a kindergarten teacher. In addition to validate a proposed model to predict the two dimensions of psychological identity (ideological and social) as independent variables and the dimensions of mental motivation (mental focus, orientation towards learning, creative problem solving, cognitive integration) as mediating variables towards the kindergarten teacher profession (as a dependent variable). The research sample consisted of 621 female student teachers in the third and fourth year at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Minia University in the second semester of the academic year 2022/2023. It was found that there are positive correlations between the attitude towards the profession of a kindergarten teacher and both psychological identity and mental motivation. The results of the multiple regression analysis showed that achieving the ideological identity is more able to predict the attitude towards the profession of the kindergarten teacher. Structural equation model showed that there was a direct effect of the ideological identity dimensions on (mental focus, orientation towards learning, and cognitive integration) of mental motivation. There was a direct significant effect of each of the mental focus, orientation towards learning, and cognitive integration in the attitude towards the profession of kindergarten teacher>
